Kobuzaru was originally founded in 2005. In order to promote Taiko drum, Fukuoka University set up an association in 2012, which later developed into a club in 2016 and entered into its 13th year in 2018. Kobuzaru is specialized in playing various sizes of Japanese traditional Taiko drum, delivering powerful performance and capturing audience’s full attention with sonorous and energetic drum beats. In order to present a perfect performance, Kobuzaru members practice every day without fear of heat or cold. They also participate in major events to hone their skills by playing with other drum groups from other regions of Japan. As the local summer festival arrives, Kobuzaru delivers interactive performance at kindergartens and childcare centers to connect young learners to Japanese culture and also promote Taiko drum.
